5 tips for male hair transplant aftercare

Hair transplantation is an invasive hair loss therapy that involves adding extra hair follicles to a balding or thinning region of the head. The follicles are taken from a different portion of the scalp or another part of the body with more hair follicles. They are transplanted using either FUSS (follicular unit strip surgery) or FUE (follicular unit extraction) (follicular unit extraction).

After the male hair transplant, a surgeon gives each patient an aftercare regimen. To avoid future issues, it is critical to follow these guidelines in the letter.

Avoid these activities during the first several days
The following activities should be avoided for the first few days after hair transplantation.

Cleaning the transplanted area
Scratching the infected area
Leaving the house unless it’s an emergency
Activities that are physically demanding (bending, lifting, manual labor, or sports)
Covering the head when indoor
Aspirin or alcohol consumption
Heat, cold, or sweating should be avoided since these might obstruct healing

 2.Semi-Upright Sleeping

It is critical to sleep with the head raised at least 45 degrees for the first few days following a natural hair transplant to avoid putting pressure on the transplant or grafting site. In order to minimize swelling, you might use a neck cushion or sleep on your side.

  1. Application of ice or steam

Following your hair transplant, you may have some swelling at the grafting site. This is completely normal and might happen on the third or fourth day following surgery. However, ice should not be applied directly to grafting or transplant sites. To reduce swelling, place ice over your brows. It is also critical to refrain from using a steam bath for two weeks following the surgery.

  1. Washing of Hair

Dr. Singh would advise you to refrain from washing your hair for 3-4 days following the transplant. When washing your hair for the first time following the treatment, you must follow these instructions.
Pour some water on your head gently
Use a gentle shampoo as directed by your dermatologist and gently massage your scalp
Using clean towels, gently wipe the scalp to fully dry the hair

  1. Topical Solutions in Practice

A dermatologist may instruct a patient to apply aloe vera gel or sterile saline solution to the treatment site after a male hair transplant. A doctor may even recommend a softening treatment to avoid scalp peeling following hair transplantation. It is critical to follow these guidelines and to refrain from applying anything to the scalp without first contacting a doctor.
